Partnerships with Schools, Colleges and Referral Agencies
At Central Skills we look to develop partnerships with local schools and colleges to provide curriculum enrichment activities and vocational training opportunities that may not otherwise be available to students following a standard curriculum. We offer a number of different programmes that may be relevant to the individual needs of you school, college or students.
Schools Programme
We work closely with a number of secondary schools to provide a range of training and work experience opportunities for students wishing to follow a more vocational approach to education than that offered within the mainstream curriculum. We can provide training within schools or at one of our dedicated training centres, delivering a range of qualifications specific to hospitality & catering, construction, and sport & recreation.
With a national skills shortage in many vocational sectors there is an increasing demand for vocational training programmes within schools and colleges. At Central Skills we can help meet this demand by providing bespoke vocational training solutions that sit within the standard school timetable. We can also assist schools and colleges in the delivery and assessment of the new skills based diplomas for 14-19 year olds. If you or your school is interested in this provision, or would like some more information call us today on 01942 829 716 or contact us via email at info@centralskills.org
Alternative Complementary Education (ACE)
The ACE education project seeks to re-engage and offer positive educational experiences to Key Stage 4 students. The ACE programme does not aim to replicate the curriculum that has failed to successfully engage those students who are referred. Instead, it offers young people opportunities to develop individual timetables that best suit their needs.
Young people referred to the ACE education project may have been permanently excluded from school, or have no school placement following a period in custody or secure accommodation. It is always our aim at Central Skills to empower our learners to become a more inclusive member of society, and to leave ACE with a full and valuable Record of Achievement and the resolution to do something that is substantial for them, with their lives.
Young people generally start their work at ACE by completing a series of one to one sessions before moving, when and if they become ready, into small groups. Individuals and groups are carefully structured to provide positive social interactions and assist young men and women to develop themselves as ‘team players’, supporting and guiding each other for mutual benefit.
Following on from these initial sessions the skills development team begin to carefully build a package of training that the individual has ownership of, with timetables thoughtfully and gradually developed to provide a programme of academic, social, and vocational experiences that will enable the learner to achieve the qualifications they need.
