Whatever career path you choose, there are a number of different training routes available to you, depending on various factors including your age, previous qualifications and experience, and specific career goals. The training routes available include:
Entry to Employment (e2e)
If you are aged 16-18 years, you live in England and are not participating in any form of post-compulsory learning; you can be admitted onto our e2e programme enabling you to progress to an apprenticeship, further learning or a job. You will be expected to undertake learning in three interdependent core areas: basic and key skills, vocational development, and personal and social development.
On E2E you are able to apply for an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA). In addition, your expenses will be met in full. You’ll also get bonuses for starting e2e and for positives outcomes such as completing your Individual Activity Plan, distance travelled or gaining a qualification.
Although e2e is not time-bound, it is based on the needs of each individual. You may need relatively short periods of time to prepare for entry to an Apprenticeship, employment, or further vocational learning opportunities. If you have more complex personal and social needs you may require much longer periods before you are ready to enter and sustain suitable training and employment.
Young Apprentices
The Young Apprenticeship programme, for individuals aged 14-16, is a refreshing way for young people to learn. It’s an opportunity to gain a taste of ‘real work’ whilst continuing with core academic studies. Whilst studying for a Young Apprenticeship you will gain a wide range of enriching experiences that will enhance you future possibilities, and enable you to gain qualifications within your chosen industry.
If you complete the programme, you may be able to move more quickly towards a full-time apprenticeship in your chosen area. However, you could also decide to stay on in full-time education, either at school or college.
Programme Led
Apprenticeship schemes are an excellent way for a young person to acquire practical work based skills on the job and develop knowledge through theoretical learning as well as improve maths and English.
Apprentices undertake a 24 week programme covering a vocationally related qualification, key skills in communications, application of number and IT and employability skills including CV writing, interview skills, working with others and customer service. During that time, Central Skills will involve employers as guest speakers, and arrange industrial visits to enable the apprentices to fully understand the world of work.
It is Central Skills aim is that by the end of the 24 week period, the apprentices will be ‘work ready’ to enter employment and to complete the full apprenticeship in the workplace.
